6 August 2013, Dar es Salaam –Tanga Cement PLC has constructed and donated a two bedroomed residential house to Bethsaida Girls’ Secondary School. The school is under Bethsaida Orphans Education Centre in Dar es Salaam. The Company spent a total of Tzs72 million for construction of this house.
Tanga Cement Company has extended this support to the centre after learning that the centre is facing problem of teachers’ houses. The house is located within the school compound to make it easy for the teachers to assist students whenever their assistance is needed.
Speaking during the handing over ceremony TCCL Acting Managing Director Mr. Reinhardt Swart said; “Every human being needs a shelter in life. We as Tanga Cement Company are very proud to be able to provide shelter to the teachers of Bethsaida. We believe this will enable teachers perform their duties as they will be able to reach school on time to perform their teaching duties and also to assist students with problems that need their attention even after school hours”.
Mr. Swart added; “TCCL is happy to support this school as it is one of the schools that takes care of orphans. My call to other organisations is to joint hands with us to support the school; I believe it is every person’s responsibility to take care of the orphans; these are our children, they are part of us, they are part of the Tanzanian society.
The support given to the centre is in part of the company’s CSI program of supporting the Tanzanian community in the areas of Education, Health, Environment and Community development.
