Tanga, 17 March 2017 –Tanga Cement Public Limited Company, has handed over a
block of laboratory to Pongwe Secondary School which he company built as part of its
Corporate Social Investment which aims at supporting Tanzanian communities. The total
cost of the project is Tzs 97782708.
Speaking during the handing-over ceremony, Tanga Cement Plc’s Logistic and
Distribution Manager Mr Samwel Shoo said; “As a Company, Tanga Cement PLC has
been supporting the Tanzanian community by sharing our profit with them. We normally
give back to the community, 1% of our profit, while focusing on the areas of education,
health, community development and environment”.
He further added; “The future of Tanzania depends on the generation we support today.
I believe this group of students we support today is where we found future employees of
Tanga Cement PLC such as Engineers that will come to run our plant. For a better future
you have to educate this generation. And to you students, I urge you to handle with care
all that have been given it can be benefit other students that will come to this school.
Make sure the laboratory that we’re handing over to your school today adds more impact
in your studies and life in general.
Tanga Cement PLC has been supporting government initiatives of developing the
education sector by donating cement, constructing classrooms, staff houses,
laboratories, etc. We call upon other firms to join hands with Tanga Cement in
supporting various projects in our country.
