Tanga Cement PLC has donated nine hundred
(900) T-shirts worth Tzs11m to Tanzania Health Promotion Support in the move to assist the
NGO in its fight against HIV/AIDS. The 900 T-shirts will be for peer educators in the Coast and
The peer educators will be using these T-shirts when giving services to the people affected by
the HIV/AIDS scourge. The aim of using these T-shirts is to get them easily identified. Speaking
at the handing over ceremony, TCCL acting Managing Director Mr. Reinhardt Swart said; “We
at Tanga Cement Company have been supporting the Tanzania community for many years
through our CSI programme. The areas we have been focusing on include Education, Health,
Environment and Community Development.” Further he said; “We feel honoured to support the
peer educators from the Coast and Mtwara regions because of their high effectiveness as well
as providing help and support to the people living with HIV/AIDS.”
Mr. Swart added; “We believe with this donation, Tanzania Health Promotion Support will
succeed in their goal of ensuring accessible high quality health care services to Tanzanians
living with HIV/AIDS in Coast and Mtwara regions”.
He concluded by asking other organizations and institutions to support the Tanzania Health
Promotion Support in their efforts of fighting with the disease by saying; “This fight is for
everyone; every family in Tanzania and Africa at large has been touched in one way or another
by the HIV/AIDS pandemic, be it by losing a family member, friend or a colleague. So I would
like to encourage other institutions and individuals as well to put our hands together in this fight
in order to reach zero HIV/AIDS deaths, zero new HIV/AIDS infection and zero discrimination”.
Tanga Cement PLC has been supporting various Tanzanian communities through
its CSI programs in the areas of Education, Health, Environment and Community Development.
